Baby Shower Invitation

Hi guys. So first thing is first I am so done with the cold. The sun came out this afternoon and warmed up my craft room that i am now ready for open doors and windows and the heat turned off. Now that we have gotten that out of the way lets get to the reason you are here.

My best friend is have a baby & I am throwing her a baby shower or as I like to call it a Celebration of a new family member. After finding out the sex of the baby ( IT"S A GIRL!!!!!) I was able to come up with this cute invitation. The baby's nickname is Monkey so that is the theme and once she said she is not a fan of pink i knew what colors to use ( I am going with brown & light purple with just a little pink). I then came up with this cute 5x7 size card.

The monkey is from one of the Create a Critter cartridges (not sure which one off the top of my head). I used some  Canvas Textured card stock (the color is fudgesicle) and Smooth card stock (nutmeg is the color) from Joann's for the body with just a small black piece of paper for behind the eyes and mouth. I then cut the shadow out of some pink card stock (because whats a girl baby shower with out a little pink). I then used some purple for the bow which is also from the create a critter cartridge and add some clear wink of Stella glitter to it. Now to make this monkey look more girly I add some light pink tiny pearls for earrings. For the bow on her hand i used American Crafts pink twine so it look like the balloons are tied to her hand.
For the small balloons i used my Martha Stewart Balloon punch and just punch out balloons from three different shades of purple card stock. The one in the middle matches the card stock for her bow. I big balloon is from the Create a Critter cartridge and I just used Cricut Craft Room Basic Font for the letter inside. I then cut this out on to some 8 1/2 x 11 Light Pink Shimmer card stock from TPC Studio (found at Joann's but in their clearance section). I then held everything down from the monkey to the balloons (including the string) with mini glue dots and the bows are held micro glue dots.
For the back I just used some white card stock and cut it to size by hand. Then once i found a 5x7 size template on my computer (i was worried i just cut these out for no reason and then had to do it again).
I typed out what I wanted it to say & once I was happy with the wording I went back to pick the font and size of the text.

I just love the way this turned out. I thought i was going to have more ideas but this was the first one that came to mind and she really liked it. I have many more project to work on for this shower and will share all of the fun ideas with you as time goes on. But for now I am taking a week off the make sure i have what i need (not to mention get the stuff done around my house that was put on hold). Thank you so much for joining me and look for more Baby Shower videos in a week.

Valentine's Day Card #8

Happy Valentine's Day

So I saw this card on Pinterest and thought this would make a great ending to my Valentine's Day Card Series. It took me a while to get the hang of it before filming but once I knew what I was doing it was simple. I am sorry I don't have a lot to share other then the pictures but please watch my video to see how I made the fun card.

For the inside I just added a piece of white cardstock for a place to write something.

I hope that you all have a fun and loving Valentine's Day. My hubby has decided to plan dinner this year (a little worried it won't happen because he works) He said it is something from when we where dating. So what ever I was going to do now has to work around his plan. This will be interesting, I am looking forward to it too.

Valentine's Day Card # 7

Hello all. So this is more of a card share then anything else. For the last several days i have been getting stuff together for a baby shower I am throwing for my best friend Ashley (it is several months away but I don't have all the time in the world need to jump on it asap lol). So when I made this card I think I was still in baby shower mode because nothing was looking right that I had to stop, walk away and came back to it the next day.

I used Lawn Fawns Love You Tons stamp set as well as Lawn Fawn Stitched Journaling Die. I was able to stretch the banner die so the sentiment would fit. I just stamped that with Memento Ladybug Ink.
Here is a link to Kristina Werner's  Extending Die-Cuts Video.

For the stitched journaling die I just die cut it smaller and used the hearts on top and bottom. I then cut out the hearts again but with the back side of the pattern paper you see here. I got this idea from Jennifer McGuire's Die Cut Inlay video. I then stamped the Elephants with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on to some copic paper. I wanted there to be a difference in the male and fmale elephants but use the same color grey's so for him I used C1 as a base fallowed by C3 and C5 for the shadows. I used C1 so when I put the C3 on there it would look a little more textured. For her I just used C1 & C3. The heart was one of the white hearts that i just colored with R29 then added some Clear Wink of Stella Glitter (two coats) and then some Glossy Accents.
For the inside I wanted to keep it simple so I just use a stamp Amy R's Adoring You stamp Set and stamped it with Memento Rose Red Ink. Then took some of the scraps and just flagged the ends at three different levels to tie in the front. All the paper is from Doodlebug Sweetheart 6x6 paper pad.

I was so glad that i walked away from this and came back to it the card turns out nice. I have been trying to make cards as gender friendly as I can since i have just as many boys in my life as I do girls. Thank you so much for joining me and look for my Special Valentine's Day card posting on Valentine's Day.

Valentine's Day Card #3

So I am not sure what happened. I either forgot to post this one or it got lost. So I will share it with you now.  This card I was planning on giving to my husband for Valentine's Day but I went a different route. I wanted it to be cute but not girl (after it was going to go to my hubby). So I used a black card base as well as some black and white pattern paper from Bo Bunny Head over Heals 6x6 paper pad (these are small black hearts one of my favorite pattern in this pad). I used pink as little touches to soften all the black.
I used some white cardstock from my scrap box and stamped C.C. Designs Cupig stamp using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored him with my color pencils (they are just some Crayola ones). I then used some Clear Wink of Stella Glitter on his wings as well as on the heart of the arrow. I poped it up using some foam dots.
I used my EK Success Heart in Heart Punch for the sentiment that come with this cupig. I just punched it out on some light pink cardstock from my scrap box. The red ribbon is from my stash. Then I just used some foam dots to pop it up.
For the inside I just took some of the left over paper from the front and matted it the same way. Then took a sentiment from Amy R's Adoring You stamp set on the same pink paper as the heart and flagged one end. I took some white paper for a place to write something and just filled in some of the empty space with the little hearts that get punched out of the heart in heart punch and used my clear glitter on them too.

Well that's it. I love the way this card turned out and who know maybe I will use it next year (he was watching me while I made it kind of takes some of the fun out of giving it to him). Thank you so much for joining me and sorry these went out of order a bit. Look for my next card on Thursday and well as a Special on on Valentine's Day.

Valentine's Day Card # 4, 5, 6

Welcome back my friends. I hope everyone has been staying warm. We just had any where from 5 to 10 inches of snow over the weekend. The schools not only sent kids home early on Thursday but they also closed school Friday and Monday. My kids had so much playing in the snow ( we don't get a lot of snow in my part of Oregon). We even took them to get what ever kind of "snow" shoes we could find, so their feet would not freeze off while they where playing. I left the house on Friday (I had an appointment not to far from the house) then the trip on Saturday and that was the only time I left the house. It was way too cold for me.Oldest had to go back to school today and was bummed (she was even more bummed when i told her she had to make those snow days up but who wouldn't be right).

Well enough about my weekend, on to the card. Well three cards this time. I used these Meoples stamp set Love is in the Air from C.C. Designs. I used the girls twice (since I have two girls). I decided I want to give my family Valentines card this year and thought these are perfect.
I stamped them with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with my copic markers. I used E00, E02 for all their skins. For his hair I used E13 & E15. For his pants E57 & E59. Then I just used BG13 for the tiny part of his shirt.
I wanted to make all the card just a little bit different so for this one I took some Doodlebug Hugs & Kisses Washi Tape on the front. These cards are pre-made cards I just trimmed off some of the card and used it for the sentiment. This is a stamp from Michaels $1 bin that says 'Will you be my Valentine?" which I stamped with Memento Ladybug ink. I then just cut a flag in out on one side and glued it down. I used pop dots to
pop him up.

For both of the girls hair I used E33 & E34. For girl 1's dress I used R22 & R24. I used a small pink gem for her bow.

Girl 2's was RV17 & RV19. I used my corner rounder (1/4 I think) to round all the corners of the sentiment. I used the same gem on her bow too as well as some of the bigger ones under the sentiment.
All the Hearts are colored with RV04 & RV13 with some Clear Wink of Stella Glitter on them as well as the girls hair bows.

Here are all 3 of the cards.

I just had fun making them and I hope my family likes them.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day

Valentine's Day Card 2

Welcome back everyone. I a happy to share with you the second card in my Valentine's Day Card Series. This one was just lots of fun to make. I did learn that I can not work on two cards in a row late at night my brain just kind of shuts down lol. I was going to make this a live card but after coloring the image i realized my camera died. Then i could not talk straight so I ended up doing a voice over. But it turned out great anyways.

I used Paper Smooches Bee Mine stamp set. I stamped it out using Memento Tuxedo Black ink & colored it with my copic markers Y13, Y15, R20 & B00 for his wings. I used paper from American Crafts Valentines 6x6 paper pad. I used Spellbinders Circle Hearts on the love pattern paper and Spellbinders Scalloped Hearts for the sentiment.
I went over the wings and antennae with Wink of Stella Clear Glitter

For the inside i used the same papers and dies.
I then took the small bee's from the stamp set and stamped the out with VersaMagic Sea Breeze & Pretty Petunia and once they dried i went over their wings with Wink of Stella clear glitter.

That finishes off the card. I love using just one stamp set as much as I like using multiple ones as well.
Thanks for joining me and look for my next card.

Valentine's Day Card #1

Wow that was a fast month I can't believe it is February already. But I guess when you spend two weeks sick time just flies by. So what do you have planed for Valentine's Day or have you even thought about it yet? I have already gotten some stuff for my girls but I am having a hard time finding stuff for hubby that's not candy. Anyways that is what inspired this card, those boxes of sweetheart candies. I saw them and thought how fun would it be to put them in a jar as decoration on the table. Well this is not real candy and not on my table but was a great idea for a card.

I use the jar from Lawn Fawn Summertime stamp set as well as the die and stamped it using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I stamped it twice so i could color the lid using my copic makers C1, C3,C5 then just cut it out. I used the heart from that stamp set and stamped it out using Memento Angle Pink, Rosebud, & Ladybug ink as well as Versa Magic Spring Pansey & Pretty Petunia. I used first, second, and third generation stamps.
I then took some scrap paper and my Martha Stewart Heart Confetti punch to add some different colored hearts. After I die cut the background using My Favorite Things Fluttering Hearts die on some TCP Studio Light Pink Shimmer paper (I found this in the clearance sections of Joanns a long while ago) I took the hearts that came out of that and added them to the jar to fill in the white area. I used a stamp that I got at Michaels for the sentiment on the jar.
I used some foam strips to pop the jar up.

For the inside of the card I just took the same paper I used as the background but i flipped it so i was using the lighter pink. I used a few remaining hearts and add them to the corners using my Tombow glue. My card base is Core-dinations Foundations Canvas Texture paper called April Lovely.

That's it just a fun simple card inspired by candy that I am sure I loved when I was younger (but now i cant stand lol ). Thank you for joining me and I look forward to making more cards.
