To die for Friday - Valentine Series #6 - Watercolor Hearts

Hello everyone. It's Friday and that means its the end of the week and the weekend is coming. I am looking forward to getting a few things done this weekend. I hope you have some wonderful plans for the weekend.

Today's cards turned out to be a two for one. I am so happy with the way they turned out. I had only planned to make one card then I couldn't decide what color card base I wanted so I decided to do both. I was already going to have extras from the die cutting so why not right.

For the first card I die cut out Simon Says Stamp Heart Parade die from some watercolor paper. I then took my Inktense pencils to color the inlay hearts as well as the outline. I tried to spread the shade of the colors out across the hearts and had the color fade down the hearts. I used Hot red (410) Scarlet Pink (320) Carmine Pink (520). I also used what was on the paint brush to color the outline of the hearts. I then die cut out the hearts again with some white cardstock to lay the hearts inside on this pink card base. This helps them stand out against the cardstock.

For the this one I had plan to use the outline from the watercolor and then fill it in with the white hearts. Once I laid down the watercolor piece I really liked the look of it with out the hearts inside. And the color pops against the black cardstock beautifully. I then rounded the corners use the we r memory keepers corner chomper (cant remember which one).

Thank you for joining me and I hope you all have a great weekend. I will be back Monday with the last project in my Valentine Series.

What What Wednesday - Valentine Series #5 - An Unbelievable Love

Happy Wednesday all. Not only is it the middle of the week but it is also time for another post. I hope everyone has had a good week so far? It seems to have gone by fast but that does not mean it wont the rest of the week right. Well lets get on to today's post. I once again started with a plan and the card turned out just as I imaged. I think this is my new favorite card this year.

I used several stamp set for this one card and yet it looks like everything goes together well. I started off my card by making a fun background. I used Lawn Fawn's Mermaid Ink and Paper and stamped out the bubble cluster and small heart from Octopi My Heart. I used BG15 and colored some scrap 110 lbs cardstock so I could have a little contrasting color between the mermaid and the light blue background. I then took one of the dies from Ocean Waves Borders and cut that out. I lined it up and the glued it in place and trimmed off any over hang.
I used my Mini Misti to stamp out the Octopus as well as the bow and heart. I also stamped out the little ship from Lovable Legends (which you will see later down the post) using Memento Tuxedo Black ink on to some 110 lbs scrap cardstock. I did want to go with the traditional Valentine colors (you know reds and pinks). For the boy octopus I used B12 and B16 and for the girl I used BV01 and BV000. I used R24 for the heart and for the bow. I used the matching dies to cut everything out and then took my xacto knife and made a small slit in each tentacle so I could make them holding tentacles. Are they just not the cutest. I held that together with some Multi Medium Matte.

For the ship I stamped the small heart on to one of the sails and used R24 for color that in. I used E15 for the boat, E17 for the masts and C00 for the sails. I was not worried about this having to much detail since I wanted the Octopuses (is that right or is it still octopus?) to be the main focus. Once I had the rest of my images glued in to place and on the light blue background I glued my ship down. I used Jessie's ABC's and the unbelievable sentiment to make my sentiment and stamped that out with mermaid ink.  My card is a 4.5 square top folding card using 110 lbs cardstock.

For the inside i took the octopus and stamped it with the mermaid ink and stamped the small heart as well a couple of times and that finished off my card. Thank you all so much for joining me and I hope you all have a great rest of your week and I will see you next time.

Cut it out Monday - Valentine Series #4 - A Bouquet of Love

Welcome to project #4 in my Valentine Series.  Do you have plans yet for Valentines Day? I still not sure what we are doing as of writing this post but I am sure it will be something fun with the whole family. I really liked this front panel which is from a card in the cricut design space software (can't remember if its a make it now or just one of the images). I really just wanted to make this more of a focal panel then the whole card. I played around with the colors before cutting everything out to make sure I liked the look of them first.

This card has a lot of dimension to it and it looks amazing. The heart itself has some with just the layers of cardstock but then I added some foam squares on the the back of the heart to pop it up more. I think this is just a beautiful card. I almost don't want to give it away and just put it in a frame (which is something you could do if you wanted).

On the back I just added a little handmade with love sentiment from Lawn Fawns Just for You stamp set and use Wild Rose ink.

Thank you so much for joining me for another project. I hope you all have enjoyed this series as much as I have enjoyed making these projects and cards. I will be back with project #5 and I hope to see you then. Have a great Monday.
