Baby Shower Invitation

Hi guys. So first thing is first I am so done with the cold. The sun came out this afternoon and warmed up my craft room that i am now ready for open doors and windows and the heat turned off. Now that we have gotten that out of the way lets get to the reason you are here.

My best friend is have a baby & I am throwing her a baby shower or as I like to call it a Celebration of a new family member. After finding out the sex of the baby ( IT"S A GIRL!!!!!) I was able to come up with this cute invitation. The baby's nickname is Monkey so that is the theme and once she said she is not a fan of pink i knew what colors to use ( I am going with brown & light purple with just a little pink). I then came up with this cute 5x7 size card.

The monkey is from one of the Create a Critter cartridges (not sure which one off the top of my head). I used some  Canvas Textured card stock (the color is fudgesicle) and Smooth card stock (nutmeg is the color) from Joann's for the body with just a small black piece of paper for behind the eyes and mouth. I then cut the shadow out of some pink card stock (because whats a girl baby shower with out a little pink). I then used some purple for the bow which is also from the create a critter cartridge and add some clear wink of Stella glitter to it. Now to make this monkey look more girly I add some light pink tiny pearls for earrings. For the bow on her hand i used American Crafts pink twine so it look like the balloons are tied to her hand.
For the small balloons i used my Martha Stewart Balloon punch and just punch out balloons from three different shades of purple card stock. The one in the middle matches the card stock for her bow. I big balloon is from the Create a Critter cartridge and I just used Cricut Craft Room Basic Font for the letter inside. I then cut this out on to some 8 1/2 x 11 Light Pink Shimmer card stock from TPC Studio (found at Joann's but in their clearance section). I then held everything down from the monkey to the balloons (including the string) with mini glue dots and the bows are held micro glue dots.
For the back I just used some white card stock and cut it to size by hand. Then once i found a 5x7 size template on my computer (i was worried i just cut these out for no reason and then had to do it again).
I typed out what I wanted it to say & once I was happy with the wording I went back to pick the font and size of the text.

I just love the way this turned out. I thought i was going to have more ideas but this was the first one that came to mind and she really liked it. I have many more project to work on for this shower and will share all of the fun ideas with you as time goes on. But for now I am taking a week off the make sure i have what i need (not to mention get the stuff done around my house that was put on hold). Thank you so much for joining me and look for more Baby Shower videos in a week.

Valentine's Day Card #8

Happy Valentine's Day

So I saw this card on Pinterest and thought this would make a great ending to my Valentine's Day Card Series. It took me a while to get the hang of it before filming but once I knew what I was doing it was simple. I am sorry I don't have a lot to share other then the pictures but please watch my video to see how I made the fun card.

For the inside I just added a piece of white cardstock for a place to write something.

I hope that you all have a fun and loving Valentine's Day. My hubby has decided to plan dinner this year (a little worried it won't happen because he works) He said it is something from when we where dating. So what ever I was going to do now has to work around his plan. This will be interesting, I am looking forward to it too.

Valentine's Day Card # 7

Hello all. So this is more of a card share then anything else. For the last several days i have been getting stuff together for a baby shower I am throwing for my best friend Ashley (it is several months away but I don't have all the time in the world need to jump on it asap lol). So when I made this card I think I was still in baby shower mode because nothing was looking right that I had to stop, walk away and came back to it the next day.

I used Lawn Fawns Love You Tons stamp set as well as Lawn Fawn Stitched Journaling Die. I was able to stretch the banner die so the sentiment would fit. I just stamped that with Memento Ladybug Ink.
Here is a link to Kristina Werner's  Extending Die-Cuts Video.

For the stitched journaling die I just die cut it smaller and used the hearts on top and bottom. I then cut out the hearts again but with the back side of the pattern paper you see here. I got this idea from Jennifer McGuire's Die Cut Inlay video. I then stamped the Elephants with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on to some copic paper. I wanted there to be a difference in the male and fmale elephants but use the same color grey's so for him I used C1 as a base fallowed by C3 and C5 for the shadows. I used C1 so when I put the C3 on there it would look a little more textured. For her I just used C1 & C3. The heart was one of the white hearts that i just colored with R29 then added some Clear Wink of Stella Glitter (two coats) and then some Glossy Accents.
For the inside I wanted to keep it simple so I just use a stamp Amy R's Adoring You stamp Set and stamped it with Memento Rose Red Ink. Then took some of the scraps and just flagged the ends at three different levels to tie in the front. All the paper is from Doodlebug Sweetheart 6x6 paper pad.

I was so glad that i walked away from this and came back to it the card turns out nice. I have been trying to make cards as gender friendly as I can since i have just as many boys in my life as I do girls. Thank you so much for joining me and look for my Special Valentine's Day card posting on Valentine's Day.
